THE LIFE THAT WE ARE LIVING NOW IS CONSISTENT WITH OUR PAST CONDITIONED PROGRAMMED SELF-IMAGE AND NOT WITH OUR ORIGINAL POTENTIAL OR THE FUTURE SELF.
Self-perception is crucial to building confidence because it regulates our life. Without awareness and acceptance of this fact it is likely that the
efforts we make will be futile.
The self-image we have right now
is a habituated response that has been programmed into our beliefs, thoughts,
feelings and behaviors.
We have been exposed to a range of both positive and harmful
influences that our subconscious mind has accepted and absorbed hook, line and
We are deeply suggestible during important developmental stages (and
times of high stress as adults). Therefore, it is critical that, as adults, we begin to deliberately
choose what will influence our mind. We will refer to external influence as social programming.
Social programming can play havoc with the creation of the confident healthy self-image required to create a meaningful present and a successful
future life. Social programming comes from
well meaning (usually) parents’ aka early amateur programmers and other
important external sources such as relatives, classmates, friends, neighbors,
teachers, media, etc.
