"I have been the through the range of typical services but never considered hypnotherapy for addictions. Didn’t expect that this would be such a fit. But it was, thank
you from the bottom of my heart."
James. F Edmonton
James is a 23 years old, never married, no children and
lives with his parents. James works full time at a job he enjoys, made good
money but was putting his job in jeopardy with missed time. James states that he has had addictions issues since he was a teen.
He had already made good use of a variety of traditional treatment resources in several provinces, always at the expense and insistence of his
parents. James had recently begun to date, was motivated and had moved into a
sober patch. He had always been curious about hypnotherapy. He chose to pursue this work in spite of his parent’s initial objections.
James saved for two months in order to attend a program. While James had been offered a variety of new tools and strategies
during his many treatment periods, he had not subconsciously accepted or
cemented the learning. He still held the identity of addict.
James was a good candidate for this work and was motivated to make important changes while he was "still young." He did an excellent job on following through with assignments and took quite an interest in the outcomes of the assessments he agree to complete. The support he received was the first two months was quite intense and as he grew more confident about his abilities to cope the level of intervention decreased.
His parents participated in several components of service and have a new understanding of James' challenges, as well a new tools for supporting him more effective ways. James is doing well at work, is expecting a promotion soon, has moved from his parents home to his own apartment and is saving a down payment for a house.
