subconscious mind review

In the last email (see email 31) I suggested that when we chose A, we are recognizing the learning needs of the subconscious mind and beginning to develop a respectful relationship with it.

Many people become frustrated when they fail to achieve their goals. Despite their best attempts to manage problems or difficulties, they often find that their progress is limited.

People refer to subconscious “blocks” as being the reason they cannot close the GAP between where they are now and where they want to be.

Deciding that the subconscious mind is “blocking” our progress sets up an adversarial relationship with it.

Remember the internal chaos I spoke about in an earlier email? One part of the self desires to grow and another part of the self wishes to maintain the status quo, even if it is painful.

The language we use to explain this experience, to ourselves, is important. Rather then viewing the subconscious mind as “blocking” our progress, we need to choose a more empowered way of explaining this dynamic to ourselves.

Again, I remind you that the subconscious mind (aka internal robot) is a learning machine.  Our goal is to influence it by gently and respectfully understanding its need for incremental learning. Lack of progress has less to do with being “blocked” and more to do with how we are choosing to lead the subconscious mind.

The relationship you have, or are willing to develop, with your subconscious mind will ultimately determine the progress you make in becoming the CEO of your life.

Shift your perception from being “blocked” (this puts us in defensive mode) to a more offensive position with:

  • an attitude of curiosity
  • a willingness to experiment
  • anticipating the internal robot (awareness of patterns)
  • taking one step ahead of the internal robot with clear incremental choices and actions that interrupt ways of being (cow paths) that do not serve us

The exercises offered in earlier emails will support you to begin to do the above. Every email in this sequential mail out has been designed to increase your understanding and respect for the subconscious mind.

The relationship you have with your subconscious mind is the most important relationship you will ever have. Investing time and energy in this relationship is crucial if we wish to take charge of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
